Case Study Suggests Vitamin D May Improve Immune Response

A case study recently published in the Frontiers in Immunology journal concluded that vitamin D may help the immune system fight tuberculosis.

This case study was made possible by a very rare patient with a non-functional vitamin D receptor. It was found that this individual had impaired vitamin D induced cathelicidin expression and killing of the tuberculosis bacteria compared to healthy controls.
